My Characters:

Noren - Paladin (Oath of the Watchers)

Played?: yes

Species: Triton with added Beasthide Shifter features

Pronouns: she/her

Sexuality: lesbian

Age: 21

Lore: Noren is from a small underwater fisher town, that secretly guarded an ancient elemental power source for centuries. When she was 16, she ventured too far away during one of her fishing expeditions, because guided by ambition, she wanted to prove herself as capable (so that her parents would let her join the town guard). Here she encountered a powerful sea witch, who put a curse on her. If she experiences strong emotions, she will transform into a horrific sea monster. It mostly happens with negative emotions, but even strong happiness can trigger it. So because of that, she became an outcast to keep the citizens of her town safe, and moved into the outskirts on her own. But then, three years later, the army of King Callum attacked the town in search of the elemental power source. Despite her curse, her protectiveness and duty to keep her town safe drove her to engage in the conflict. She transformed into her beast form, and for the first time in her life had some sense of control over it, so her town gained the upper hand. But then the Red Diamond sorcerers of the king (homebrew subclass with blood/flesh magic) used their flesh control power on her to make her attack her people instead. She was helpless to watch herself play out the actions they forced her to do, and she unwillingly decimated her people. The army took the elemental power source and left the town in shambles. In her distress, she ran away, and stayed in her beast form for weeks before she calmed down enough to change back. She swore an oath to the elemental water spirits of the sea, to keep the people of the underwater safe and to avenge her town. Over the next two years, she became a great fighter and learned to repress her emotions better, until she was captured by the forces of Calandra. She was caged and taken to the prison island of Calandra, where she encountered and was freed by the rest of her (future) adventuring party.

Nethra - Paladin (Oath of Redemption)

Played?: yes

Species: Tiefling

Pronouns: she/her

Sexuality: lesbian

Age: 24

Lore: Nethra has been drawn to the blade from a young age. She comes from a lowly family, in a land torn apart by powerful warlords. Her parents worked on the fields every day, so she spent most of her life taking care of her frail and sensitive younger sister, Zaph. As soon as she turned 18, she joined a warlord's army, and fought and killed without a second thought. But then, when she was 23, she was stabbed on the battle field. In her near-dead state, she experienced a divine vision of a goddess of peace. Once she recovered, she deserted the army and became a devout paladin of the goddess she met. She's been searching for her place in the world since (and also running from the warlord's wrath), which is how she came to be on the island where she met her adventuring party. She feels a tremendous amount of guilt for her actions as a soldier, and believes herself to be corrupted because of it. However, she develops a deep belief that everyone can be redeemed evetually no matter their past deeds, because that's the only way she can try to make herself believe she can also be redeemed.

River - Bard (College of Eloquence)

Played?: yes

Species: Human

Pronouns: they/them

Sexuality: bisexual

Age: 19

Lore: River is originally from the high noble house of Serpentbrook. They were always the black sheep of their family, caring far more about the arts than their duties as a noble and heir. Eventually, when they were forced into an engagement against their will at 18, they ran away to a big city. While there, they created a new identity and started an apprenticeship under a master bard. They had a difficult time adjusting to a peasant's lifestyle, but they hid it, along with their true identity. They know their parents are searching for them, and they're also ashamed of their noble upbringing, so they hide it at any and all cost. In the harbor of this city is w

Niamh - Warlock (Fiend Patron)

Played?: yes

Species: Half-elf

Pronouns: she/her

Sexuality: lesbian

Age: 28

Lore: Niamh Crowstrike is a completely normal person. No, really. She lives a completely normal, magicless life with her wife. In her youth, however? She was quite a wild one. When she was 18 years old, she made a pact with a demon, and was granted powerful, dark, magical power. She also did quite a bit of crime, and got herself banned from two countries, but that's besides the point. She's calmed down now, and looks back at her wild past with a sort of fond embarrassment. She never actually uses her dark, magical powers anymore. That is until she accidentally stumbles into a heist plot.

Zaphiroth - Sorcerer (Lunar Sorcery)

Played?: no

Species: Tiefling

Pronouns: she/they

Sexuality: lesbian

Age: 22

Lore: She's Nethra's sister, so she had a very similar childhood. However, she's always had trouble standing up for herself. Once her sister ran away, she had to try to cope with being on her own for the first time, and she struggled with it greatly. But then, as she got cornered by some people trying to mug her, something snapped in her and she unlocked a hidden magical power. As her powers developed, she struggled to hide them more and more, especially as one side of her hair turned silvery white. She isolated herself completely, which was not really all that great for her mental health, to say the least. She developed minor hallucinations, and she sort of lost her trust in her perception of reality. Eventually, a group of fellow lunar sorcerers found her and took her into their order.

Pyrrha - Fighter (Rune Knight)

Played?: not yet but soon

Species: Fire Genasi

Pronouns: she/her

Sexuality: lesbian

Age: 20

Lore: Born a Genasi into a family of fire giants in a village in the mountains near the lair of an ancient bronze dragon that the people worshipped, her birth was considered the dragon's blessing, a good omen, a sign of magical prosperity for the family. It was believed she would grow into a Time Magic Sorcerer, or perhaps have the magical inclination to learn the ways of a Chronomancy Wizard. But as she grew older, she showed no natural ability, nor any affinity for learning spellwork. Disappointed by this, her family began to resent her, see her existence as a corrupted, bad premonition. Trying her best to impress them, she learned the ways of the blade, which she found she also personally enjoyed. But her new abilities didn't please her family all that much, so she left for a big city when she turned 18, to become a part of the city watch. While there, seeking a connection with her old life in the village, she began to learn the ancient art of runework. As mundane and simplistic of a form of magic it is, she found a deep connection with it, and began to use it for fighting purposes. But she knew it would not be magical enough to impress her family, because any giantkind can learn the way of the runes, even those with no other magical ability. Her past and her troubled relationship with her family have left her eager to please, but reacting with fiery anger when rejected. She's never satisfied with anything other than perfection, because even though she cut contact with her family, the echoes of them in her mind are still watching and judging her every move. She also harbors a deep jealousy for those with strong magical abilities.
